New Jersey's Republican and Democratic party leaders have agreed on the dates for four public hearings by the Apportionment Commission on reapportionment of the state's Congressional districts.
The first will be held next Wednesday at Rutgers Law School in Newark. The second on Jan. 13 at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City. The third on Jan. 18 at Rowan University in Glassboro, and the fourth on Jan. 20 at the Ocean County Administration Building in Toms River. The hearings will begin at 6 p.m.
Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-Morris), the Republican chairman, Wednesday wrote Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), the Democratic chairman, that he would like to hold additional public hearings.
New Jersey lost one of its 13 Congressional seats as a result of the 2010 U.S. census finding that the state lost population. Observers believe Rep. Albio Sires (D-13th.) could be the congressman to lose his seat.
