Stephanie Velez-Gentry goes after Camden County's 5th District

One of the ways — and it's a unique one — that Republican Assembly candidate Stephanie Velez-Gentry uses when reaching out for potential voters in the 5th District in Camden County is to meet them at the sex toy parties she hosts.

Velez-Gentry, a married 29-year-old mother of two from Bellmawr, told the Associated Press Thursday that she is the owner of Nookie Parties and makes a living by organizing sex toy purchasing parties for adult couples and women.

Velez-Gentry likens her work to a Tupperware parties and said it is a great way to meet potential voters.

One New Jerseyan who posted an online response to the AP story wrote, "Finally, someone from New Jersey with an interesting life. Most people in this pathetic state are the epitome of boring ... big houses, big rings and boring. She sounds like she has a personality. There is hope for this 3rd rate state.''

But Velez-Gentry is up against some tough customers when it comes to winning one of the two Assembly seats in the predominantly Democratic 5th District where Camden City Council President Angel Fuentes and Donald Norcross, the brother of South Jersey Democratic political boss George Norcross, are heavy favorites to win.

The district includes 15 Camden County cities and towns and four in Gloucester County.
