Edgewater, NJ --This Saturday, Aug. 18 Mitsuwa Market will be celebrating their Japanese holiday, Obon Matsuri. It is a holiday that is celebrated the 15th day in the seventh month of a lunar calendar. It is believed that the the ancient spirits return to their home to celebrate family traditions.
Mitsuwa Market will allow the festival-goers to experience the Japanese culture, traditional games, and delicious delicacies from 15 vendors for under $5. Be prepared to indulge in forkfuls [or chop sticks full] of pan-fried noodles, ramen noodles, and other Japanese bites.
There will also be live entertainment from Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York and Japanese drumming from the New York Suwa Taiko Association.
This event will take place from 10:00am to 7:00pm at 595 River Road Edgewater, NJ 07020. It is FREE Admission and suitable for the entire family. For those who live in New York, Mitsuwa Shuttles will be running throughout the day from Port Authority to the Market every 20 minutes. I'll see you there!
