Thanksgiving dining at the Jersey Shore

There are so many great choices for dining out this Thanksgiving, it is hard to make a selection. Here are a few ideas for spending the day out at the Jersey Shore.

In Asbury Park, Dauphin Grille at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel is offering a four-course dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. for $28.95 per person. The menu offers a tantalizing twist on the traditional turkey - Caramelized Sweet Onion Soup Gratin or an Autumn Salad; Stuffing-filled Roast Breast of Teriyaki Turkey (option to turkey is Roasted Atlantic Char) served with mashed potatoes, yams, local cauliflower and Appalachian cornbread stuffing; haricots verts and cranberry sauce, and Autumn Holiday Risotto with wild mushrooms, roasted root vegetables and sautéed greens. The grand finale is a Dessert Platter with traditional Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie and Black Forest Bread Pudding. Reservations are required. Call 732-774-3474. Kitschens Hospitality’s other restaurants Trinity and the Pope and Langosta Lounge will be closed on Thanksgiving. Langosta Lounge is hosting its annual Community Table for those who are alone or in need. To make the Community Table as successful as in the past, Langosta Lounge is currently accepting donations of hams, turkeys and other foods to complete the Thanksgiving table. At David Burke Fromagerie, Executive Chef Larry Baldwin and his team are preparing an inviting three-course, $65 per person prix fixe traditional Thanksgiving menu from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Some of the delicious dishes being prepared are: for Appetizers - Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with Crispy Sunchokes and Sauce Vierge; Lobster Soup,

Shrimp & Lobster Dumplings, Enoki Mushrooms,] with Coconut Fennel Crème; Cider-Glazed Duck Leg with Local Cabbage, Apples and Whole Grain Mustard. Entrées include: “8 Hour” Turkey Roasted Breast & Ballantine Leg with Chestnut & Bacon Stuffing; Potato-Wrapped Atlantic Cod with Chanterelles, Bacon and Savoy Cabbage, and Braised Shortrib & Cavatelli with Truffle Mousse & Mushroom Chips. Crowning the glorious meal are dessert delicacies created by Pastry Chef Stuart Marx that include: Classic Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Bourbon Anglaise, Passion Fruit Crème Brulée with Macadamia Coconut Biscotti, and Caramelized Bread Pudding with Spice-poached Pears and Hazelnut Gelato.

The Salt Creek Grille, with the Navesink River as its backdrop, is the perfect setting to share Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends. The award-winning restaurant will be serving a special Thanksgiving menu from 12-7 p.m.

For more of a country flavor, head to historic Freehold and The American Hotel’s Market Yard Grille for a traditional Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner including: Harvest Soups, Cold Salads, Tuscan Pasta Station, Raw Bar, Vegetables, Turkey, Ham, Prime Rib, Pork Loin, Mashed Potatoes, Home Style Yams, Chef’s Stuffing and Seasonal Desserts. Seatings are from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Buffet is $42.00 for adults and $19.00 for children12 years & under. Reservations are required. Call 732-431-3220. The American Hotel is at 18-20 East Main Street, Freehold.

The very popular, all-inclusive, limitless Roast Turkey Dinner is a prix fixe menu – adults, $26 per person and children, $10. The dinner includes a Salt Creek Grille House Salad or Butternut Squash Soup, Sour Dough Dinner Rolls with Garlic Butter, Apple Rosemary Stuffing, Sage Candied Yams, Roasted Winter Vegetables, Cranberry Orange Relish and Red Potato Mashed. For dessert there is an all-American Apple or Pumpkin Pies served with Coffee or Tea. Many other Salt Creek Grille signature dishes are also available on the à la carte menu, which includes: Ahi Tuna Stack and Artichoke and Spinach Dip for appetizers; entrées offered are Mesquite Grilled Miso Salmon, The Grille Chop or Filet Mignon. There is also a Kids’ Dinner with Chicken Strips or Pasta Marinara at $9 per child. For reservations call (732) 933-9272. The Salt Creek Grille is at 4 Bingham Avenue, Rumson.

Don’t feel like cooking this Thanksgiving and really don’t want to get all dressed up and dine out at one of these fine restaurants, Chris Brandl, Chef/Owner of Brandl., Belmar, has the perfect solution. He will prepare your homemade menu, which you can have delivered or pick up. The menu includes: a traditional or deep-fried turkey with gravy, butternut squash purée, roasted vegetable stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed, haricots verts, cranberry orange relish and pumpkin pie – all for $30 per person. There is a six person minimum and orders must be in by Tuesday, Nov. 22. Call Brandl. at 732-280-7501.
