Given that regulatory laxness is one reason some Democrats give for the current economic meltdown it is ironic that Corzine would argue, and you would unquestioning and without context rely upon, vague regulatory approvals to justify the investment. The Govenor chose not to use a blind trust which would have placed his actions above reproach. That is the reason for a blind trust. Thus, this is a crisis of his own making. As someone said elswhere, "what's more important, running the state or running your portfolio?"
