We have been BEGGING for buy outs for over a decade. We, as homeowners, cannot ask the government to buy us out, only BB can do that. Mayor and council have refused to request buy outs, we are stuck rebuilding only to wait for the next flood. We are tired, broke, living in fear of the next flood, and quality of life is horrendous. What recourse do we have? The mayor was quoted in the NY Times saying it would be a burden to those who live on high ground if BB loses the tax revenue from the flooded homes if there are buyouts!! What about the burden to those who have to live in this hell?? Don't we deserve to live high and dry too?!?!? How can we force the town to do the right thing? Will anyone help us?
