Religion is not the problem here. ORGANIZED religion is the problem. Whether you believe in the Bible or not, the new testament is full of stories where Jesus is being tolernat of and loving to all sorts of people that others look down upon (prostitutes, tax collectors, etc.). It is only when small-minded people gather together and interpret the Bible to match their feelings and fears that we all run into trouble. If someone is different than you are but is not hurting anyone, then why do you care? Live and let live, especially if you are going to say "what would Jesus do?"
