Our government and the media doesn't want an informed public. They want to stay "on message" and keep us focused on topics that are simply distractions from issues that we would all benefit from solving. The government no longer serves the people.
Constructive information about social issues doesn't seem to interest the major media outlets. The media is just looking to sell advertising, so they focus on conflict because it draws viewers. If it's controversial it's on, if it's not, well...maybe not. They have to pay the bills, after all.
I really don't see anything changing in Trenton until mobs start showing up with pitchforks and torches. Hopefully, we'll be moving out of state before that happens. Of course, that's going to depend on finding some poor soul that's even more under informed about NJ residency that we are. Ugh
