Civility at Work

Paula Thank you for a thoughtful reflection upon civility in public discourse. It is an essential quality of community and a necessary foundation for effective teamwork. My group has focused on improving teamwork by improving the level of civility among coworkers. We've found that subtle rudeness in words, deeds, and facial expressions discourage people from calling upon one another at work. It undermines the team's potential, letting a lot of individual talent and information go to waste. It opens a major liability for companies that fail to address serious problems. My experience says that people deeply appreciate civility from others at work. Respect and consideration are essential. And it's not really all that hard to realize. Our CREW process makes a big difference. Michael www.workengagement.com/crew
