We humans are good at ensuring those uppity individuals pay dearly. Quite right: What we're up against is what we assume as our inherent right to oppress all others. The first step in transcending this perspective is understanding it for what it is, and this is a daring thing to do. Thank you. Cruelty and abuse are wrong, but the fundamental wrong is the idea that we are superior over, and entitled to exploit, all other life on this Earth.
