Irrelevant

If this is what the editors of this site think passes as learned and relevant commentary, I'm dropping my RSS subscription. Leaving aside the misconstrued reality and the rambling incoherentness of this supposed "commentary," any bozo claiming to know something about the climate debate should know the difference between weather and climate, but apparently you found one (of the far to many) who doesn't. An alternative news site for NJ should do better than the comments section of the Star Ledger. But its far easier to encourage baseless and uninformed attacks than to foster rational and meaningful debate. It's a sad state, because it's only with the latter that we can truly address the problems facing this state and the globe.

Right. So if we have ten years of consistently falling temperatures (which we have had) culminating with the coldest winters on record in most parts of the world, this is "meaningless" and has no bearing at all on global warming (or climate change, as it is now called). But if any short-term weather event occurs which does not involve cold, ice or snow - for instance, floods, hurricanes, droughts etc - this is immediately hailed as proof of global warming. Oops, I mean climate change. Weather is only "meaningless" when it's the wrong kind of weather - right?
