Dear Advocates:
In perusing the moneys to be spent on transporation in NJ to me does not alleviate the congestion on local highways, time wasted, gas consumption, etc.
For instance how is it going to alleviate AM-PM congestion on Route 1 along with many other highways in NJ, which are horrific at this time of travel!
Route 35, 9, Parkway, NJ Turnpike, etc. Citizens not working stay home at least 2 hours in AM, 2 hours PM to avoid getting into an accident!!
My investigation, gathering facts, etc., leads me to believe that monorail systems are the way to go to alleviate local congested traffic jams and getting more cars off the roads! Info will be sent to Kate Slevin, AICP Exec. Dir.
It took me 2 1/2-3 hours from Trenton to get to the shore points (50-55 miles,
ridiculous!). Had to go to Newark or Camden by train, then by bus or train to the shore!!
Transportation thinking in NJ has to go outside the norm!!! Looks like PA is forging ahead with monorail system!! Are we being left behind?
Respectfully, Len A.
PS: AMTRAK has never made a profit; asking Congress for $446M$!!
NJ TRANSIT has 300M$ budget gap!!
