The carefullness of the nuclear industry and the regulators has been decreasing to the point that another accident is bound to happen. Add in the problems with aging equipment, falsification of records by utilities, excessive delays for repairs and coverups by licensees, another accident is just around the corner. I don't think any governement agency has the fortitude to close down a dangerous plant. The citizens will have to be relentless - watch the poceedings in Vermont at the Vermont Yankee plant.
I live near Three Mile Isalnd. In 1999 I predicted the next nuclear accident would happen in Japan. Literally 10 days later, I was back on the nationally syndicated radio show to explain the TokaiMura accident. All the signs were there. Now I see the same signs here in the US.
