Four top legislative leaders will also appear at NJBIA event
Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who is attempting to move ahead a number of Christie administration's economic development and regulatory change initiatives, will give the keynote address Tuesday to about 200 business owners and managers at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association's 2010 Public Policy Forum, NJBIA President Philip Kirschner announced Thursday.
The event, "Heading in a New Direction: Changing NJ's Business Climate," will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in the Iselin section of Woodbridge. It will also feature the state's top four legislative leaders, economic experts, business executives and political pundits who will give their insights into what the business community can expect in the coming year in government, politics and the economy.
The program includes:
Presentation of the Leonard C. Johnson Award to Kevin O'Connor of United Water Co. (9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.); Presentation of NJBIA's 2011 Business Outlook Survey results (9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.) by Kirschner, who will discuss what NJBIA member companies see for the economy in the year ahead.
A legislative leaders panel (9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.) comprised of Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester), Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-Essex), Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean (Essex) and Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce (Morris);
A political outlook panel (11:00 a.m. to noon), with Republican Strategist Dale Florio, Democratic Strategist Harold Hodes, Kean, and state Democratic Party Chairman John Wisniewski;
A concurrent panel discussion on New Jersey's economic outlook (11:00 a.m. to noon) featuring Robert Grady, chairman of the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors; Mitchell Hersh, president & CEO of Mack-Cali Realty Corp.; Doug Kuiken, president of Kuiken Brothers Co., Inc.; Robert Marrone, president of the NJ Society of CPAs; Michael McBride, managing partner of Connell Foley LLP; and Patrick O'Keefe, director of economic research for J.H. Cohn, LLP;
Presentation of the Paul L. Troast Award to Kean (12:50 p.m.); and the keynote address by Guadagno (1:05 p.m.).
