Somebody is on the verge of a record breaking and life-changing experience.
The Mega Million lottery drawing for Friday March 30 is going to be the largest jackpot of all time, ever offered in the world. The jackpot is estimated to be $640 million, and the cash option payout is about $462 million.

The previous record for a lottery jackpot was the $390 million Mega Millions prize shared by a New Jersey ticket in March 2007. The $359.4 million is $159 million more than the previous record of $240 million set by Mega Millions in January 2011.
In this case, 18 consecutive drawings have taken place without a jackpot winner. After no one hit the jackpot on Tuesday, the jackpot estimate was raised by an amazing $137 million in one drawing. According to Lottery Post, it would normally take nine consecutive drawings for the total to rise by that much. It has only gone higher since then.
Winning numbers for the Mega Millions drawing of March 27 were 9, 19, 34, 44, and 51, and the Mega Ball was 24. USA Mega reported that 47 players matched the first 5 numbers without getting the Mega Ball to win $250,000, hardly a disappointment, but suddenly looking closer to pocket change. Two of those players were from New Jersey.
According to philly.com, the National Weather Service says you're 200 times more likely to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery. The odds of winning with a single ticket are around one in 175.7 million.
Hopefully we can all avoid the lightning. But someday, probably sooner rather than later, someone does actually win this jackpot.
