No tickets matched all six numbers in the Powerball drawing of Saturday June 2, so the jackpot has climbed to $177 million for Wednesday, with a cash option value of $120.6 million.

According to delawareonline.com, the winning Powerball numbers for June 2 were 9, 10, 17, 29, and 45, and the Powerball was 33. The Power Play multiplier was 9. Two tickets had the first five numbers without matching the Powerball to win $1 million, and one of them was from New Jersey.

The game has now seen 11 consecutive drawings pass without a jackpot winner.

Philly.com reported that the $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Riverdale from Bergen County. A local Mega Millions player also had similar good fortune, winning $250,000 for matching the first five numbers without the Mega Ball. That ticket was sold at G&G Liquor & Wine in Teaneck, also in Bergen County.

According to the Powerball website, the game’s last jackpot winner came on April 25, when a group of Pennsylvania SEPTA employees split $172.7 million into 48 shares.

Elsewhere, in London, National Lottery players have contributed $2.2 billion towards the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics, and the UK Lottery plans to give back to its players.

Lottery Post reports that the National Lottery will be holding a one-time drawing that will create 100 millionaires on the night of the opening ceremonies July 27. The EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle will break the world record for the most millionaires created in one drawing.

Children can be conned out of inheritance after multiple marriages

BY CAROL ABAYA NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM.COM THE SANDWICH GENERATION Multiple marriages and blended families can mean children get cheated out of money and assets their parent(s) earned and had before the second or third marriage. At the 2012 senior citizens’ law day conference, Lawrence A. Friedman, Bridgewater elder law attorney, said elders need to protect their children of prior marriages from being disinherited. "Even if your spouse’s current will provides for your children, your spouse may change it after you pass away,” he said. In addition to protecting one's child, an appropriate will can minimize N.J. estate taxes, which kick in if assets are over $675,000. At the conference, Cathyanne Pisciotta from North Brunswick discussed guardianship which could be necessary if various legal documents are not signed. Pisciotta said that if a person does not have a durable power of attorney (for financial affairs) and a living will (for medical decisions), anyone else can seek guardianship of that person. An expensive court proceeding is mandatory. And she said, “If one person seeks guardianship, someone else can challenge the appointment. Another relative may seek to be appointed guardian because he/she wants the money and power.”
