Garrett joined NewJerseyNewsroom.com after spending the last two decades at daily newspapers in New Jersey. As a member of The Star-Ledger sports desk for the last 13 years, Garrett did everything from agate and edit stories to graphics and research. The Made in Jersey sports graphic feature was his creation and ran for over a decade. Various other Jersey-centric features began appearing throughout the paper after its launch. Online news became his focus in 2004 while studying the hyperlocal news model and other new media initiatives. After graduating from Rutgers in 1990, Garrett spent the next 5 years on the sports desk and writing a college sports column at the Daily Record in Parsippany. He’s concentrating on new models for supporting journalism.
