Actress and author Mariel Hemingway will be the keynote speaker at Princeton HealthCare System's 7th Annual Conference for Women, set for Saturday, December 5, from 9:15 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency, Princeton.
The Conference for Women is an annual health and wellness event dedicated to inspiring women to lead healthier lifestyles through education and awareness. This year's conference, themed "Simple Ingredients for a Delicious and Satisfying Life," features a wide range of informative workshops led by some of the region's leading experts in women's health, including physicians and health professionals on staff at Princeton HealthCare System.
"Women are typically so focused on taking care of others, which makes it so important that they dedicate some time to themselves and their health," said Carol Norris, Princeton HealthCare System's vice president of Marketing and Public Affairs. "That's what this conference is all about."
Mariel Hemingway, the granddaughter of author Ernest Hemingway, first found fame as a teenager, when she earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Woody Allen's film "Manhattan." In recent years, she has emerged as an author, publishing three books in the past half-decade that promote a holistic approach to healthy living.
The theme of the conference and Hemingway's keynote, "Simple Ingredients for a Delicious and Satisfying Life," is taken from the title of her recently published cookbook. Her talk will focus on making healthy decisions in every aspect of life - from diet and exercise, to relationships and family, to work.
In addition to Hemingway's speech, women can also look forward to workshops on topics such as "Staying Healthy at Any Age;" "The Changing Face of Pediatrics;" "Dressing Your Best;" "Maintaining Flexibility and Agility;" "Healthy and Beautiful Skin;" "Dollars Through the Decades: Financial Fitness at Every Age;" and "Surviving the Storm: Your Child's Teenage Years."
"Over these past six years, the Conference on Women has attracted thousands of women," said Debbie Millar, a registered nurse and site director for PHCS Community Education and Outreach Program. "It has a broad, inter-generational appeal, bringing together mothers, daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, as well as neighbors and friends, with its unique blend of information and inspiration."
The cost of the conference is $60 and advance registration is required. To register, call 888-897-8979 or visit the Princeton HealthCare System Internet site at www.princetonhcs.org/calendar.
