Egyptian 'Farewell Intercourse Law' calls for sex with dead wives: 'Is that a pyramid in your pocket or....?'

Egypt considering controversial law

What’s missing from this story is the name of the Egyptian legislator who proposed this law and what moved the lawmaker to act.

The Islamist-dominated Egyptian Parliament is considering a highly controversial law in which a husband would be legally allowed to have sex with his wife after her death.

The proposal has been tagged the “Farewell Intercourse Law.”

The news outlet Al Arabiya reports a grieving widower would have the right to “farewell intercourse” up for up to six hours after his wife has passed. The reasoning behind the proposal is that death does end a marriage.

Egyptian women’s organizations are strongly opposed to the proposal.
