On Monday, Dancing With the Stars “Rock Week” got a scare when actress Melissa Gilbert suddenly vanished at the end of the live show.
The audience was told that Little House on the Prairie star had been injured and was on her way to the hospital. Gilbert tweeted, “I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."
E! Online reported that Gilbert hit her head during the tango while her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy slipped and hurt his arm.
She also tweeted, “@MaksimC you are my champion. I adore you. @GavinDeGraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!"
E! confirmed that Chmerkovskiy rode with Gilbert to the hospital. It was hopeful that the pair would be present for Tuesday's results show, but Gilbert was a no-show.
Tuesday night, Maksim tweeted his support: "@MelissaEGilbert . You're an ABSOLUTE ROCK STAR! You inspire me! Have so much more to say, but...... LOVE YOU!"
Host Tom Bergeron explained the concussion.
"On her doctor's advice she is taking a rest day and if they get through tonight she'll be able to compete going forward,” he said, according to People.
And perhaps that ordered rest is a good idea. Over a year ago, Gilbert underwent surgery to fuse her spine in two places, reports People.
Gilbert turned to Twitter again in support of Sherri Shepherd who was eliminated from last night's show.
She tweeted, "I just watched my tivo'd #DWTS and I'm weeping. @SherriEShepherd I will miss you so much."
The elimination left fans stunned and Shepherd's partner Val Chmerkovskiy was quick to defend his partner.
He tweeted, "@SherriEShepherd gave her all, and I'm not just saying that. Literally her ALL, never complained about ANYTHING! She deserved better."
