'DWTS' rumors: Can Jaleel White and Kym Johnson pull it together?

For actors who have dropped out of the Hollywood spotlight, competing on ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars" can offer some good exposure. But along with the flattering attention comes a certain amount of risk. Now former child star Jaleel White is dealing with tabloids that reopened a police report filed by his ex-girlfriend.

White, known as Steve Urkel from the hit sitcom “Family Matters,” has admitted that his ex-girlfriend Bridget Hardy told police that he physically and verbally abused her in 2010. White told People magazine that the claims were made in a “malicious police report” as the couple were fighting over custody of their then 11-month-old daughter.

White was never arrested nor was he questioned by police as Hardy decided not to press charges. So why, you may wonder, would Hardy sit down with Star tabloid now?

White chalks it up to jealousy.

"Bridget Hardy has consistently shown a knack for timing throughout our child custody disputes,” said White to People. "I guess my most recent successes have been too much for her to stomach.” He then made a joke about not getting her votes.

But for Hardy, the altercation was no laughing matter. She told Star that White shoved her in the chest, pushing her down into a toilet which broke on impact.

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that White has been less than kind to his DWTS dance partner Kym Johnson.

US Weekly reported that White flipped out on Johnson, calling her an “idiot” and a “baby” after a bad rehearsal. Apparently the verbal abuse was so bad that show producers had to intervene as Johnson left the studio in tears. And reportedly dancer Mark Ballas was also reprimanded by White for trying to intervene.

The pair later tried to dispel the rumors during a CNN interview.

"This competition is very, very stressful. Everyone has good weeks and bad weeks. This is the first time we had four days days to learn a dance, it was personal story week so I think it was stressful, but we're fine. We're absolutely fine,” said Johnson.

And once again, White chalked it up to the tabloids.

Can the pair pull it together for tonight’s "Rock Week" performance? Tune into Dancing with the Stars, tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.
