Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham today accepted the apology of MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who called Ingraham a “right-wing slut” on his talk show Tuesday night.

The Hollywood Gossip reports Ingraham has accepted Schultz’s apology, saying, "He apologized, it seemed heartfelt, and I accept his apology.”

The issue began when Schultz was discussing Ingraham’s criticism of President Barack Obama for drinking Guinness during his trip to Ireland while the Midwest was being hit with tornadoes.

“And what do the Republicans thinking about?” Schultz said, according to the Daily Caller. “They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. She was praising President Reagan back when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”

According to the New York Daily News, MSNBC announced that Schultz was removed from his talk show with a one week suspension, even after his nearly four minute long apology on the program. Ingraham's reaction to that was, "Great, now his ratings will go up."

“I am deeply sorry, and I apologize,” he said in his remarks, according to the Washington Post. “It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness.”

On her Facebook page Ingraham wrote, in a reference to her upcoming book, 'Of Thee I Zing,' “Now I’m tempted to insert one additional zing ... about men who preach civility but practice misogyny.

Ed Schultz is scheduled to return to his talk program on June 6.

It's about time that MSNBC and its new owners Comcast start clearing out some of the trash that they have on the air. I now find another reason not to watch MSNBC talk shows. There is too much hate on MSNBCl. I hope Comcast rethinks their "hosts".
Ed has never showed me nothing but anger, stupidity and is a total piece of C#$p as far as I am concerned. He is nothing but a loud mouth non intelligent boob. (can I say boob?) But Slut is OK?

"I really don't understand how the abusive and negative talk from people like Rush or Laura Ingraham or Beck, which incites murder in some cases, is okay and Fox just lets them roll."

Of course you list no examples. Ed was wrong and he wasn't sorry, vile hate speech is his gig, it's what he does. He doesn't attack ideas like the people you mentioned, he just attacks the people voicing them because he doesn't have the mental capacity to argue the ideas.

I am in total agreement with the 4 of you who have already responded to this. I really don't understand how the abusive and negative talk from people like Rush or Laura Ingraham or Beck, which incites murder in some cases, is okay and Fox just lets them roll. But MSNBC can't let their correspondents talk more freely. Can someone please explain? Okay so slut is a bad word. I'm a woman and I think that b***h is just that. So fire me!

Schultz was never a true Liberal, in fact his history shows that he was a Conservative, anti-abortion advocate. He switched sides when he thought he could parlay himself into the Left Wing version of Rush Limbaugh. His network is owned by the same people who backed Limbaugh. For Schultz its all about money.

I've never learned anything useful from him, he's just another establishment hack that repeatedly spouts the same talking points over and over again. He's never had an original thought. I listened to him for years. I still remember the time he was speaking with another fishing enthusiast on his show sharing ways of cooking some sort of fish - the caller suggested he use paprika - Schultz said " What is paprika?" Pretty funny. Talk about a low information voter as he says...

Without Ed Shultz and the other MSNBC Contributors there is nothing work watching except some of CNN. The Fox Channel is garbage and the other right wing radio shows are even worse and they are allowed to stay on the air!!! If MSNBC keeps firing their best people like Ed and Keith Oberman. There will be no one left worth watching.

Ed has a lot of heart and sensitivity for ordinary people and those trying to help them. I'm sure it hurts him to hear the trash talk out there about our President and it hurts me also.
I'm sorry that he lost his temper. I thought his apology was heartfelt. I know he is very sorry about what he said. The world needs more kindness and sensitivity and less negativity. I'm glad Laura accepted his apology.
