Several times a year, namely during NYFW, officially known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I enjoy going into Manhattan to review the latest fashion and accessories designers' collections. Interestingly enough IMG World, the show organizer, seems to be embracing more emerging talent in their Fall/Winter 2011 line up.
These newcomers are scheduled alongside industry heavy hitters, like Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors, and the always fun Betsy Johnson, whose show ends with her doing a cartwheel on the runway.
One designer, Elene Cassis, friend and fellow Fashion Group Member showed her collection at New Jersey Fashion Week just this past October, and now this season premieres her signature 1960's inspired collection at the Stage in Lincoln Center.
Many buyers and retailers are still getting used to the grandeur of Lincoln Center, I suppose after spending last year getting acclimated to traveling to this new venue, during a snowy winter. This time with smaller snow mounds to navigate through, once I got off the PATH train from 33rd Street and hopped a cab ride to the Lincoln Center, the trek didn't seem so daunting.

Possibly, the anticipation of an open bar by drink sponsor Kim Crawford, who offers tasty sips of wine in their suave plastic glasses, kept me motivated for the last show of the evening - 9 p.m. Zang Toi on a Sunday night.
After watching the show, I was able to interview Ramona of the Housewives of NY with her lovely daughter Avery and get their thoughts on Mercedes-Benz shows and happenings.
Zang Toi is turning out to be one of my show favorites, as the exotic green billowy blouses were paired with sleek trim long coats with fantastic detailing, and accented with high hair up-dos that seemed to keep the editors' and buyers' eyes glued to the runway.
Along with seeing a few international designers at Lincoln Center, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week also gives you the opportunity to tour around Manhattan's private shows and preview additional emerging talent who are on their way to establishing the next great fashion institution.
Thomas Lavone, another New Jersey Fashion Week designer invited me to a front row seat to view his Fall/Winter 2011 collection which was packed with buyers, and several celebrity stylists looking for items for clients to use in upcoming music videos and awards premieres.
True to the Garden State, Thomas used Mrs. Freehold NJ, Shanna Holt-Edwards, as one of his featured models during his highly anticipated runway show.
