'RHONJ' Star Kim G's daughter Gia caught up in Hamptons scam

It seems that the daughter of former Real Housewives Of N.J. castmate Kim G, may have inadvertently made a vacation appearance where she was not welcome.

Gia Granatell, Kim's teenage dughter, was unknowingly caught up in this alleged East Hamptons party scam. According to Thurdsays NYPost two real estate “con artists” made thousands of dollars renting out posh vacation homes in the Hamptons and then subletting them to teens for post-prom and graduation parties without the owner’s permission.

The Post reported Lee Hnetinka, 25, who owns the company Hamptons and Sons, is accused of conning East Hampton homeowner Lucy Sachs, 64. Sachs says she rented her mansion to Hnetinka for $30,000. “He said it was his aunt having a party at his house,” she said. But on June 8 she rushed home after a neighbor told her that a “party bus with a disco ball had arrived” at her property in the middle of the night.

Unfortunately Kim G was one of the parents who shelled out $510 to Hampton and Sons for her daughter to attend a weekend party at one of these houses. She had no idea the company didn’t have permission to host the party they were promoting. This may be a drop in the bucket for Kim (one less pair of OK shoes), but not for some of the parents left holding the bag on this one.

According to Kim, Hamptons and Sons, had even given each guest a 20-page manual of “party rules” banning knives, guns and hard alcohol. Hnetinka and his alleged partner Leslie Jennemann are estimated to have made $60,000 to $80,000 a weekend from the parties.

Gia and the group she was with were quickly sent packing when the owner kicked Hampton and Sons out on June 8. After all the drama, most of the heartbroken teens opted to spend some time at the Jersey Shore instead.

Kim G said she’s yet to receive a refund.

Children can be conned out of inheritance after multiple marriages

BY CAROL ABAYA NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM.COM THE SANDWICH GENERATION Multiple marriages and blended families can mean children get cheated out of money and assets their parent(s) earned and had before the second or third marriage. At the 2012 senior citizens’ law day conference, Lawrence A. Friedman, Bridgewater elder law attorney, said elders need to protect their children of prior marriages from being disinherited. "Even if your spouse’s current will provides for your children, your spouse may change it after you pass away,” he said. In addition to protecting one's child, an appropriate will can minimize N.J. estate taxes, which kick in if assets are over $675,000. At the conference, Cathyanne Pisciotta from North Brunswick discussed guardianship which could be necessary if various legal documents are not signed. Pisciotta said that if a person does not have a durable power of attorney (for financial affairs) and a living will (for medical decisions), anyone else can seek guardianship of that person. An expensive court proceeding is mandatory. And she said, “If one person seeks guardianship, someone else can challenge the appointment. Another relative may seek to be appointed guardian because he/she wants the money and power.”
