Most of us who don’t respond to pizza will require emergency assistance. That was the case in an incident involving young Rita Lawlor of Sarasota, Fla. and her mother.
At Sarasota County Fire Station No. 2 this past week, the Fire Department gave out awards to firefighters and civilians who had saved a life in 2011. One of them was Lawlor, who happens to be seven years old.
Lawlor found her mother unconscious on the floor of their home one evening, according to The Daily Meal. The child called 911, but her first course of action was to slap her mother with a piece of pizza.
According to ABC 7, the fire chief said Lawlor was very calm when she called 911.
She said, "They did ask where I lived and my number, and I had to tell them what kind of house I had and stand outside on the lawn until I saw the ambulance coming."
Firefighter and paramedic Chris Zengel said, “As we pulled up we noticed there was a little girl standing on the front of the driveway with a telephone in her hand. As we walked up she started telling us what was going on. She couldn't wake up her mom.”
According to Mail Online, Rita was happy to receive a goody bag to go along with her award in appreciation for her heroism. Her mother has recovered and is now doing very well.
