The Secret Service has completed their investigation of Ted Nugent’s criticism of President Barack Obama during a meeting with  National Rifle Association supporters in St. Louis last week, and do not expect to take any further action.

Nugent said he never made any threats of violence towards anyone. According to a Reuters report on the Huffington Post, agency spokesman Brian Leary said the Secret Service respected Nugent’s rights to freedom of speech, but had a responsibility to “investigate intent."

But when a man calls himself the “Motor City Madman,” his intentions may not be to keep his grass trimmed as neatly as his neighbor's. Nugent has offered a lot of opinions on political issues in recent years.

According to the Hollywood Gossip, Nugent described Sarah Palin as “coming from the we-the-people rank-and-file.” She's sincere, she's knowledgeable, she's articulate, she's damn good-looking, plus she kills moose. How can you go wrong?”

Nugent also pointed out that “I have busted more hippies' noses than all the narcs in the free world.”

According to EW.com, Nugent told the Detroit Free Press in 1990, “My being in South Africa isn’t going to affect any political structure. Besides, apartheid isn’t that cut-and-dry. All men are not created equal.”

And when a British journalist asked Nugent whether the deer he likes to hunt thought of him as a friend or enemy, Nugent said, “I don’t think they’re capable of either of those thoughts, you Limey a–hole. They’re only interested in the best place to eat, having sex, and how quickly they can run away. Much like the French.”

According to POLITICO, as a joke, Nugent once said he avoided the Vietnam draft by stopping all physical hygiene, only eating Vienna sausages and Pepsi, and going to the bathroom in his pants for days before his physical.

In a guest appearance on the Simpsons in January, Homer Simpson backed Nugent for the Republican presidential nomination.
