2011 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins analysis and prediction

WHERE THEY NEED HELP: Quarterback, defensive line, wide receiver

ANALYSIS: The Redskins have a glaring need for a quarterback as right now Rex Grossman is the starter, last year’s big acquisition quarterback Donovan McNabb is destined to play elsewhere. But the 10th pick is too early for either Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker. Julio Jones would be a dynamic addition at wide receiver where the starters last season were Santana Moss and Joey Galloway, both who have seen better days. Albert Haynesworth never brought into Mike Shanahan’s 3-4 defense, and the Redskins need a nose tackle. However the 10th pick is too early to draft a nose tackle like Phil Taylor from Baylor. Help on the defensive line is available in Da’Quan Bowers from Clemson, J.J. Watt of Wisconsin or Cameron Jordon from California are available if the Redskins look to defense with their first pick.

WHAT THEY SHOULD DO: The Redskins need to be able to stop people on defense and get pressure on a quarterback. They should take Bowers if he is available. Like other teams though, they are getting scared away by the knee surgery, and have other needs to address.

WHERE THEY ARE EXPECTED TO USE THE FIRST PICK: Julio Jones, wide receiver Alabama
