Longtime St. Anthony coach was a finalist for Springfield three times before

Bob Hurley Sr. has always maintained that he was in the business of coaching basketball to do right by the kids. And he has.
Now, the longtime St. Anthony coach, who has gained legendary status with 24 state titles and nine Tournament of Champions squads, will take center court when he is inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame.
The official announcement is due Monday night during the NCAA championship game.
Hurley, who is 16 victories shy of the 1,000 mark in a career that has spanned 38 years, was a finalist for the Hall three times before, including last year after his Friars went 32-0 and earned the nation's No. 1 ranking for the 2007-08 season.
The 62-year-old Hurley has coached several players who have gone on to NBA careers, including his son Bobby Jr., who starred at Duke, and Rodrick Rhodes.But Hurley Sr. has helped so many more go on to have outstanding collegiate careers and later become successful business professionals and civil servants.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 13 in Springfield, Mass. Hurley will be in fine company as 1992 Dream Team members Scottie Pippin and Karl Malone will also be inducted.
