Chamber honors Devils future Hall of Famer for becoming all-time NHL leader in regular season victories by a goaltender
TRENTON — Martin Brodeur was honored Thursday for becoming the all-time NHL leader in regular season victories by a goaltender with 558 career wins.
Brodeur, a West Orange resident who has played with the New Jersey Devils for his entire NHL career, surpassed the win record of 551 games, previously held by Patrick Roy, in a March 17 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2.
Brodeur has been a staple of the Devils for the past 15 years, leading the team to three Stanley Cup championships. He is also the only NHL goalie to achieve seven 40-win seasons and is a 10-time All-Star player, a winner of four Venzina Trophies, four Jennings Trophies and a Calder Memorial Trophy.
The bipartisan joint legislative resolution honoring Brodeur was sponsored by Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts (D-Camden), Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex), and 14 senators and Assembly members.
