At Apple’s new iPad launch Wednesday in San Francisco, CEO Tim Cook said the company was redefining the category Apple created with their original device.
Then he proceeded to unveil a product with a 9.7-inch screen with resolution so sharp the company says the on screen words are clearer than the words in print. Apple says its new device is sharper than most 40-inch HD televisions. Its resolution is now 2048 x 1536 at 264 pixels per inch.
The new iPad also has 4G LTE network connection compatibility on the AT&T and Verizon wireless networks. According to Mail Online, the company claims the battery lasts 10 hours and the new iPad is only 9.4mm thick.
According to TechCrunch, the new iPad contains an A5X processor with quad-core graphics. Apple called its processor is twice as fast as the Tegra 3 and the A5X produces four times the performance.
The faster A6 processor, which was in some rumors to be included, is expected to debut with the iPhone 5.
The Australian reports that the camera has been upgraded to 5 megapixels, in line with cameras on Android tablets. The new camera can now record full 1080p high definition video.
Also, a dictation assistant is on the new iPad instead of Siri.
CNET News mentions a few things we're not getting with the new iPad, such as a new design, less weight to the device, 128 GB, iOS 6, Siri, and a name for the unit.
Apple’s latest version of the iPad releases on March 16 and will be priced from $499-$829, the same range as the iPad 2. Pre-orders are being taken now.
