Organic Diversion Green Food Recycling Company celebrates Earth Day at Collingswood’s Fourth Annual Green Festival

Marlton N.J.  – Organic Diversion, a full service organics recycling company, announced today that six local Collingswood restaurants will participate in its Farm-to-Fork-to-Farm composting program.

Taking part are Bistro DiMarino, Casona, DiBartolo Bakery, El Sitio Grill & Café, Sapori, and Villa Barone.

In addition, Organic Diversion is joining the celebration of Earth Day, April 21, by participating in Collingswood fourth annual Green Festival.  Warner Landscape has also teamed up with Organic Diversion to carry their bagged compost.

Organic Diversion collects and processes organic waste materials (i.e. food). Rather than sitting in landfills, the Farm-to-Fork-to-Farm composting program will compost the waste for other uses. The program also includes training and education in organic recycling.

“While our clients are very enthused about the idea of preserving the planet, they also find our restaurant program reduces disposal costs,” says President Rocco D’Antonio.  “Up to 75 percent of the waste coming out of restaurants is recyclable, making our program the most efficient waste management solution for our clients.”

The program assists these restaurants in implementing and sustaining a successful organics recycling program that reduces their costs overall and helps to preserve our environment.  Organic Diversion analyzes their current recycling habits and develops a plan with a customized operations and training manual. It includes collection supplies to best suit their needs.

The fourth annual Collingswood Green Festival is April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along Irvin Avenue. Green companies will line up to present their eco-friendly products and services as well as water conservation information, tips on reducing the waste stream and demonstrations on what happens to our trash.  The festival will also include music, food and a Kids Zone. Collingswood’s Bike Share will be on hand to offer free tune-ups from volunteer mechanics and a bicycle safety refresher. Also expect spring and summer gardens with tips from master gardeners, information about the locavore movement (everything about buying and eating local sustainable foods), cloth diapering and lots more.

“This is another great example of Collingswood leading the way in eco-initiatives,” said Collingswood Commissioner Joan Leonard. The borough has offered to subsidize the compost bins for program participants through a Camden County recycling grant.
