After two days of hazy, hot, and humid conditions, a far more normal air mass for this time of year is on the way. However, a few additional scattered showers can be expected through this afternoon as a secondary cold front moves through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.
Variable clouds can be expected with scattered showers through this afternoon as the cold front approaches. With winds from the west at 5 to 10 mph, temperatures will rise into the upper 70's to lower 80's along the coast and lower to mid 80's elsewhere for afternoon highs.
The cold front will exit by this evening with clearing skies and lower humidity. Winds will shift to the northwest at 5 to 10 mph as temperatures fall into the upper 50's to lower 60's for lows tonight.
High pressure will be in complete control tomorrow on through Friday afternoon with scattered cloud cover along with light and variable ends. Temperatures will remain slightly above normal with lows in the upper 50's to lower 60's and highs in the upper 70's to lower 80's.
An area of low pressure will approach on Friday evening with winds veering to the northeast at 5 to 10 mph and clouds increasing. Periods of showers can be expected late Friday night on through Saturday as an area of low pressure lifts northeast from the Tennessee River Valley into New England. Temperatures will be below normal with lows in the upper 50's to lower 50's and highs in the lower to mid 70's.
High pressure will build in from the Great Lakes on Sunday and remain in control for Monday and Tuesday with scattered cloud cover. Temperatures will remain near normal with lows in the upper 50's to lower 60's and highs in the mid to upper 70's.
