A disturbance over central Pennsylvania will race towards the New Jersey coast today producing scattered showers throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.
As the showers pass, overcast skies and an easterly wind will be in place leading to temperatures rising into the lower to mid 60's for much of the region, mid to upper 60's around the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
A series of disturbances will continue to move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas through this week and into next week. The storm track of these disturbances will determine the potential high temperatures each day.
When the disturbances track south of the region, winds will be from the east with overcast skies and temperatures near normal into the mid 60's to lower 70's. However, when the disturbances shift north of the region, a southwesterly wind takes hold allowing temperatures to sky rocket into the mid 70's to mid 80's for highs. These disturbances will produce scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy downpours at times.
The weather pattern will be in place through at least next week with no changes expected for some time.
