ATLANTIC CITY – Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will open at Tropicana’s IMAX Theatre on Nov. 22. A special double feature is available Thursday, Nov. 21 for $33 including a 5 p.m. showing of the first film, The Hunger Games and 8 p.m. showing of the newest film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy and directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire follows the continuing struggles of heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), as she fights to protect her district and her loved ones from an oppressive futuristic ruler.

Tickets are on sale at www.tropicana.net.

Helping to further eventize this cultural phenomenon and transport moviegoers into the world of Panem, director Francis Lawrence utilized IMAX cameras to film portions of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Exclusively in IMAX theatres, sequences shot with the extremely high-resolution cameras will expand to fill more of the screen with unprecedented crispness and clarity, putting moviegoers right into the action alongside Katniss and her fellow Tributes.

The IMAX release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

ABOUT THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.
