The beat goes on for the Transportation Security Administration, as eight workers were fired at Newark on Wednesday.
"Something is failing in this system," said Glen Winn, now a teacher at the University of Southern California, according to AviationPros.com. "We're trying to prevent another 9/11."
Back in April 2011, NBC New York reported that Newark Liberty International Airport's federal security director Barbara Powell had been reassigned, after a number of security breaches and problems with training. Powell had been on the job at Newark about four years, and spent nine years with the TSA.
The eight TSA screeners fired Wednesday worked in a bag room at Newark'sTerminal B. They were caught on video sleeping in the baggage area, or failing to follow standard operating procedures for screening checked bags, according to authorities. The workers had been seen on tape in December.
