A Burlington man charged with one count of possessing child pornography last year pleaded guilty in Camden Federal Court Friday, PhillyBurbs.com reported.

According to a statement issued by New Jersey U.S. Attorney, Paul Fishman, Patrick McGuigan admitted to possessing over 600 pornographic images on a home computer that depicted minors engaging in sexually explicit, sadistic, masochistic or other violent conduct with other minors and adults.

A member of McGuigan’s family discovered the images after performing routine maintenance on his computer, and contacted investigators, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

As part of his guilty plea, which McGuigan made before U.S. District Judge Joseph E. Irenas, the 62-year-old man agreed to forfeit the computers and computer accessories, which he used to commit the offense. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacqueline M. Carle of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Camden prosecuted the case.

Fishman commended the work of special agents of the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Squad assigned to Innocent Images," supervised by Newark Special Agent in Charge, Michael Ward, for the investigation, which lead to McGuigan's guilty plea. Fishman also thanked the Burlington City Police Department, the Evesham Police Department, and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office for their work on the case.

McGuigan, who is scheduled for sentencing on July 15, faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison, followed by a mandatory minimum of five years supervised parole, in addition to a $250,000 fine.
