NOW THAT’S FUNNY
A professor at La Salle University in Philadelphia hired three strippers for an ethics symposium. The strippers gave lap dances to students who agreed.
La Salle’s motto is “Never Stop Exploring”.
I guess La Salle, a Catholic University, was all ticked off at Rutgers for grabbing the moral low ground by booking Snooki for a Q&A, and decided to do a little slumming itself.
Professor Joe Rappaport, an Assistant Professor of Management, is known for using “real life applications” in his classes. For this extra-credit seminar on business ethics, he had three bikini-topped women give him and other willing students a lap dance. He ran a PowerPoint presentation related to business ethics in the background.
I wonder which was more interesting, the lap dance or the PowerPoint?
Professor Rappaport has been suspended. That’s what you call a real life application.
About a month ago, I wrote about another professor at Northwestern University who featured a live sex act in his class. I think it’s fair to ask: what is going on?
When I went to college, it was the students who indulged in questionable behavior, not the teachers. I just finished getting my oldest son’s ninth grade schedule together. We are both working hard to make sure he has the right courses so that his education looks good on college applications.
But I guess the pressure’s off, because if strippers and sex acts are part of the curriculum, I don’t know why we need to bother with Honors Geometry.
I know our culture is engaged in a desperate race to the bottom, but I didn’t expect our universities to be leading the charge. I suppose I thought some segments of society would be immune to that, but now it makes sense.
