All I know is that I have been a teacher for 19 years and have contributed to my own pension all 19 years. I pay for my own disability insurance, as well. By the time I get my paycheck, the take home amount is HALF the gross amount. I am a single mother trying to raise a decent, well-educated child. I pay the same high taxes everyone else pays to keep him in a good district. And yes...it angers me that we can always afford welfare for people who abuse the system, money for failing Abbott districts, and disability claims that shouldn't exist. I WORK for my money. I work hard. Last night, President Obama was encouraging young adults to become teachers. In light of our present governor's attitude toward teachers...I say anyone is crazy to go into teaching at this point. If you'd like to touch young people's lives and not be treated like a useless, classless villian, don't teach! Young adults...change your major!!!!
