I agree Santo may be as deserving as others in the Hall of Fame, but these comparisons are weak at best.
Maz may not be worthy, but comparing a second baseman to a third baseman is not credible. Corner infielders were expected to hit home runs and drive in runs. Middle infielders are fielders first and hitters second. Maz fit that test.
Brooks Robinson was on 15 All-Star Teams and won 16 Gold Gloves!! He was a World Series MVP, and All-Star MVP and an American League MVP! His team also won two World Series and at least one other AL title. NONE of that was accomplished by Ron Santo. I bet that's why Robinson made it in on the first ballot.
Ron Santo never led the league in any one significant individual batting category. You can look it up. Maybe three HOF members from a team that did not win a pennant might be enough.
