Labor unions and environmental organizations like the Sierra Club firmly stands against “right to work” laws and other policies that give corporate CEOs more power at the expense of the health, safety and economic security of working families.
By undermining workers’ leverage to bargain for important safety, health and environmental standards protections, “right to work” laws put us all at risk. Last year, a nonunion workplace accident turned into the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history, when the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded, killing 11 workers and spilling more than 140 million gallons of toxic oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
The same corporate polluters who want to attack unions are the same that are leading the charge against the environment along with their stooges in government.
Together, we can move America beyond reliance on dirty, dangerous coal and oil, to a clean energy economy that creates good jobs, protects working families’ health and safety, and safeguards our environment.
