law of the AC
Tourism, man.

Increased tourism will lead to more in AC revenue, which will lead to more state tax revenue. It's not JUST the actual sports betting that the Senator is banking on to increase state revenues.

Dan,

I'm sure Citifield looked great from your perch behind home plate. I sat in a left-field seat where I could only see one of the three outfielders. No complaints about the color of the furniture, but who builds a stadium where fans can only see one of three outfielders?

And yes, Jackie Robinson was special, but there aren't many Mets fans alive who saw Ebbets Field. Wilpon's nostalgia gave short shrift to Mets history.

There are many things the club can change to improve the park, and I'm sure they will inject a little more blue and orange to appease the grumpy cranks who want to believe it is the home of the Mets.

But seriously, who builds a ballpark where fans can only see one outfielder?

Dan, try leaving the press box and sitting in a few other seats. Take Jon Heyman with you.

Does this mean we can finally tell people that Global Warming is a scam? Or can we still pull in some more money.

I believe that the man name in the second photo with Erin Brocovich is Michael Keough. He is a real estate appraiser and who is also a long time resident of the town.

Who is the man in the second photo with Erin Brockovich?
Dear Mr. Dan Graziano,

I like this NewJerseyNewsRoom.com web site very much, so I would be participating in being closed minded individual if I blamed the News Site for the personal comments of any one individual reporter who for whatever reason speaks his mind; Even if I do not necessarilly agree with their particular ideas and/or point of view. After all, in the absence of this "Freedom of the Press" and right to reasonably speak our minds would devastatingly be ruinous to the very core of this country which I know and love (although arguably some of the various groups, lawyers, and politicians alike appear to be chomping away at our very freedoms - but thats another indirectly related matter for another writing). I love the New York Mets; I've been a Mets Fand since I was a little kid around the time of the 1964-1965 New York held Worlds Fare. I was and am an underdog and for the underdog to the core and by my very nature. I Love the New York Mets Baseball Organization. However, I do not always agree or even like some fans of any given team. We need to remember, we are watching and following a sport for our entertainment and to find an healthy avenue for enjoyment and to get away from the negative aspects of everyday life. In any venture and/or aspect of life - Its when anyone is disrespectfull to me, or to my family, or to my friends, or to the public at large is when I take issue. And by the way, it is my opinion that you have done that in your article about all of the Mets Fans. Perhaps you are a sour grapes fan of another team? Or you've lost money gambling? Hey, who am I to hold that against you. However, I know controversy makes ratings and you likely are looking for personal ratings, but I do think that you have crossed the line here and this is only because you are being disrespectfull to people that don't all deserve such.

The Abbott districts have been receiving excess funding for years and the performance of those districts, in general, has not increased dramatically. This clearly indicates that increased funding is not the answer. To provide a thorough and efficient education to the childred of these districts, Vouchers should be expanded and allow more schools to operate. With an expansion of this program the funding can then be distributed fairly throughout the state and allow ALL the children of this state to receive the funding to enhance their education. Elimination of the aid adjustments is the necessary first step in making this new funding formula, truly fair!

Are you really judging all Mets fans based on the callers to WFAN? do you honestly believe that you can draw conclusions about mets fans generally based on the callers screened for how likely they are to buy rogaine or viagra? Can you honestly call yourself a journalist when you make such ridiculous statements? You should be ashamed of youself and frankly should be run out of town. There are a lot of wonderful things about the new ballpark. There are also some problems like limited sight lines and exclusive clubs that dishonor the spriit of the Mets and Jackie Robinson. Listening to WFAN and talking to real mets fans this week, you hear all of the plusses and minuses. Apparently you were only hearing what you wanted to hear in order to simply trash half of this site's readership with a broad stroke of the keyboard. I was very excited about this site when I heard about it. I miss the Star-ledger. Now I'm not so sure.

Wendy Leonard has written an article on the potential benefits and dangers of drinking red wine in a most understandable and objective way.

I consider it one of the best comprehensive overviews on this controversial subject.

Kudos to Wendy Leonard

I agree with their rule if.... its posted before buying a ticket and before entering the ballpark. That way if you don't like the rule don't buy a ticket or go to the ballpark. strictly volunteer and choice, no one making you do anything you don't want to.

Clearly Wendy Leonard is a talent who knows her stuff. The research goes far beyond what might be expected for an article about drinking wine and the result is a compelling, factual piece told with a style that presents the examined truth and answers the question fairly, cleanly and concisely without the usual "dumbing down" we often encounter from lesser writers who take advanced medical theories and relay them to us poor common folk on levels that are either too dense or alarmingly simplistic. Wendy Leonard found the perfect balance and reading her piece is simultaneously illuminating and entertaining. I look forward to more!

In my mind, one measure of good writing is an author's ability to capture and hold a reader's attention, especially when the reader is not particularly predisposed to the most evident aspect of the book or article's content. While I prefer to enjoy grapes straight off of a vine (or grape-flavored Gatorade or Vitamin Water - sorry), the tone of the writing and the "Freakonomics"-like deeper look into the supporting data was refreshing, enlightening, and actually fun to read. Hooray for anyone who can take a relatively known topic such as this, rub it up in a fun way, and also educate so that imbibers and non-imbibers alike can retreat back to their own enjoyment levels with new-found appreciation and understanding. Can't wait for the next one - this sets a high standard, and we'll all be expecting another leap over a tall bar!........

Chronic Diseases, like obesity, are costing us billions and billions every year. We need to change our health care system from a "sick care" system to a "health care" system by providing the proper incentives for chronic disease prevention. If a physician takes the time to get someone on a fitness and nutrition program and takes the time to see that the patient sticks to it, that doctor should get paid for it. In the long run, the physician is saving us a ton of money. Learn more by going to www.fightchronicdisease.org. Conferences like this one which teach nurses and teachers and pediatricians what they should do, are an excellent start. Kudos to NewJerseyNewsroom for highlighting this important effort.
