Five independent financial advisers in New Jersey have been ranked among the best 100 in the nation by Barron's magazine.

Leading the list at No. 12: Christopher Cordaro, CFA, CFP, of RegentAtlantic Capital in Morristown, who did not make the cut last year.

No. 23 was Mitchell Eichen, JD, founder and CEO with The MDE Group in Morristown, number 15 last year.

No. 43 was David Bugen, CFP, of RegentAtlantic Capital — also not on the list last year. RegentAtlantic was the only adviser with two people on the list.

No. 90 was Stewart R. Massey, a founding partner of Massey Quick in Morristown, also not on the list last year.

No. 91 was Nicholas A. Pascarella, CPA-PFS, CFP, of Multi-Financial Securities in Denville. He was No. 85 last year.

All five advisers are from Morris County.

Independent financial advisers do not work for brokerage firms like Merrill Lynch.

Criteria that Barron's used: assets under management, revenues generated for their firms, and quality of practice.

The top-rated adviser both this year and last was Ric Edelman of Edelman Financial Services in Fairfax, Va.

While Edelman Financial Services (the firm run by Ric Edelman, the top rated adviser) is headquartered in Fairfax, VA, we operate offices nationwide, including two in New Jersey; Bergen County and Short Hills.
