The family of Tiger Woods says Tiger’s half-brother, 52-year old Kevin Woods, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009, and is on the verge of losing his home. Relatives say Tiger hasn’t called Kevin since 2006.
Earl Woods Jr., another half-brother of Tiger, said no one has asked Woods for money, but now they are in need.
“He needs a caregiver and he can't have a caregiver and keep his home at the same time,” said Earl Jr., according to an ESPN report.
Earl Jr., Kevin and sister Royce are the children from Earl Woods’ first marriage. Tiger is the son of Earl and second wife Kultida Punsawad. Earl Jr. says they haven't heard from Tiger since Earl died in 2006. Earl Woods’ three children have kept out of the public eye until Kevin began getting worse.
The Woods children and Tiger were close until he was about 15 or 16 and he began getting famous, Earl Woods Jr. said, according to ABC News. Earl Woods’ first wife Barbara expressed her disappointment in Tiger, saying the family kept in touch a lot before Tiger achieved his fame.
Tiger did establish the Tiger Woods Foundation with father Earl in 1996. The organization provides scholarships and educational experiences for underserved children. They are responsible for the Tiger Woods Learning Center, a 35,000-square-foot education facility built for young people of Southern California.
According to Christian Post, Tiger keeps in touch with Earl Jr.'s daughter, Cheyenne Woods, another professional golfer who won the ACC women's championship in 2011.
Sister Royce is currently Kevin’s main caretaker. Kevin is still a fan of Woods, and will be watching him compete in the Masters from a wheelchair, to which he is confined. Woods’ spokesman did not offer comment on the story.
