Playing quarterback in the NFL is tough. Playing quaterback in the NFL in New York City is super tough. Enter Tim Tebow of the New York Jets. Every move he makes will be scrutinized. Especially off the field.
And the spotlight is heating up fast.
Two weeks ago, Tebow, who has become a polarizing figure in pro football in part because his outward displays of Christian faith, received an invitation for a lap dance at Rick's Cabaret in Manhattan.
"I'm thrilled for the Jets and want to extend an extra special welcome to Tim Tebow," Rick's Cabaret Girl Beverly, a busty blonde beauty, told USA Today. “I've heard that he doesn't go to strip clubs, but I will be happy to give him his first lap dance. ..."
Most likely, Tebow will take a pass and decline. The big offer Tedow accepted, however, is that he will deliver the Easter sermon at the Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas. A crowd of 30,000 is expected to attend.
A local television station reported the church is erecting bleachers on the 60-acre property to accommodate the crowd.
“Obviously it’s our Super Bowl,” Joe Champion, pastor at the Celebration Church, told NBC Sports. “Easter is the resurrection ofChrist, which we celebrate in our faith. We feel like it’s going to be a testimony to the community. We want it to be a family event."
“There will be the sacredness of Easter,” Champion said. “It’s not a Tim Tebow show. It’s not about a celebrity. There’s really only one celebrity that we are going to honor and highlight.”
