John is a versatile freelance writer whose work has been published in the Op-Ed, Perspective and Book Review sections of The Star-Ledger. He has contributed articles to The (Bergen) Record, (Morris County) Daily Record, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Greenwich Time and Stamford Advocate. He is passionate about newspapers and the important responsibility entrusted to journalists for delivering quality and accurate news reporting to the community. His writings, including interviews with such best-selling authors as John Updike and Pete Hamill, have examined the current plight of the newspaper industry, the digitization of books and the future of journalism. He has a strong interest in nineteenth century American literature, particularly Edgar Allan Poe. An avid "student" of Poe since grade school, he has written about the author's life and works for various publications and magazines. His other passions include experiencing New York City on foot, frequenting book stores, listening to 50's-60's rock 'n' roll, Elvis, Dion, The Rascals, anything by Sinatra, rooting for the Yankees-the football Giants-Manning's Colts, savoring a delicious home-cooked Italian meal, and most of all, spending time with the family. He lives in New Providence, NJ with his wife, son and daughter.
