Pandora radio says all you need to do to use their service is to drop the name of one of your favorite songs, artists or genres into Pandora and it will create your own music channel for you.
They have nearly a century of recordings at their disposal, and you are able to create up to 100 stations. And Pandora's content is free.
A magic word these days. But are they a better offering than Sirius XM (Stock ticker: SIRI)?
According to The Motley Fool, Pandora's music-discovery application has been the better seller for iPhone and iPod users since the opening of the App Store last summer. They said Pandora works well with Netflix, Amazon, and TiVo, and you can skip over songs you don’t like.
Pandora.com explains that their service gets its programming from the Music Genome Project. The Project analyzes each song by using up to 400 musical characteristics by trained music analysts. It represents over eight years of analysis, and is updated on a regular basis.
According to seekingalpha.com, there are a lot of reasons for listeners to prefer Sirius XM. They mention that people order Sirius XM for premium programming like sports, or Howard Stern, not found on Pandora.
