‘Jerseylicious’ puts Green Brook hair salon in reality-TV spotlight

Latest New Jersey offering debuts Sunday night on Style Network

A Green Brook beauty salon will take center stage Sunday night when the reality show "Jerseylicious" debuts on the Style Network.

The so-called "docu-soap" features the owners and staff of the Gatsby Salon, which is located in a strip mall on Route 22. "Jerseylicious" will premiere at 10 p.m. Sunday, with an encore presentation at 11 p.m. There are eight one-hour episodes in the series.

"Jerseylicious" unfolds around the re-opening of Gatsby, which is owned and run by the mother-daughter team of Gayle Giacomo and Christy Pereira, both of Bridgewater.

The first episode shows the two women, needing to quickly hire staff, hold a mass interview day and an "audition" at the salon's open house.

Giacomo hires Anthony Lombardi, who lives in Fairfield but also owns the Anthony Robert Salon in Verona; hairdresser Gigi Liscio of East Chester, N.Y.; makeup artist Olivia Blois Sharpe of Montville; and hair stylist Tracy DiMarco of Montclair.

The drama in the show centers on the clash between Sharpe and DiMarco, who is dating Sharpe's ex-boyfriend.

Sharpe is depicted as a party girl, and is shown kicking up her heels at the 46 Lounge in Totowa in the premiere.

According to Style Network, in future episodes a regional magazine will consider Gatsby for a cover story. Giacomo grows worried that the public confrontations between Sharpe and DiMarco will threaten the salon's chances for the much-needed publicity coup.

"Jerseylicious" is produced by Endemol USA for the Style Network. Three-time Emmy winner Alex Duda is the executive producer, joined by Style executive producers Sarah Weidman and Merah Chung.

even though what happens on the show is some what unprofeshional, this exactly what goes on and Jersey and i have to say watching it is an addiction. Many people say they hate it and wanna get out but i love it and wouldnt want to live somewhere else .Love the show, keep it up !

I am a great fan of this show! People do not "get" the staff and their friends, nor do they get their style. Maybe, since its all pretty regional. New York and New Jersey are so regionally different that even our counties create a subtext of style and local inferences. I'm from Bergen County living in Warren County ....ITS LIKE LIVING IN THE 1950's!!!!! In the same state such variety gives life texture!! So, to summarize, yes I called The Gatsby and Gayle answered. I will be going there for an appointment this July. In 2010 I would like to believe variety is the spice of life. Open your hearts and minds, life can be a party ; and the people we encounter are here for joy also!!!

I just wanted to say I love this show so much, my mom and me watch it all the time, and it's soooo dramatic, WE LOVE OLIVIA, she's sucha a nice person, and doesn't deserve all the crud she gets... >O// V thony's aweshome.... I'm so glad Olivia works part time with Anthony, she matches so well there, oh and Gayle and Christy you guys are cool too, I just wanted to say Gayle dun be afriad to take chances, change is good in some cases..... ^^ I hope Tracy gets fired, she's working for Alexa behind Gayles back, it's so frustrating not seeing anything happen to the ones who things should happen too!!!! But yay can't wait for the next season....

This show is hilarious!!!! Even if it's fake or real, it doesn't matter.... its awesome!!!!! :) Love the drama, the arguments, and the accents! the accents draw soo much attention!!! again, it's funnyyyyyy!!!! well hope they make alot of more episodes because it's what i look foward to on the sundays!!!! hahahaha.... Oh, one more thing, that Doria girl is annoying!!!, she is just being a bitch to Olivia all the time, and thats one thing that no one really sees!!!! see yaaaaa

First off let me say I love the show. However ever since this new hippo joined the team I am starting to lose interest. I love Olivia and she is being put down by some as* hole. And Tracy she needs to go!! Make some changes to your show and I am sure the ratings will go back up. Gayle don't be so blind to how Tracy and Hippo treat Olivia. I love GiGi and Frankie and hope more then anything they get married. I hope, Gayle, you get rid of Tracy and the Hippo. I am glad your got rid of Alexa. She was not a good business partner at all. I hope you make some changes to the show.

Ussualy aderbs come on a toothpicks.god all mighty alexa looks like a meatball on a toothpick have anybody notice how thing her legs are and how round her body is ????? Workit out in a gym or walk it in order to at least give those thin ass legs defanition its not going to help.mybe the plastic sergen could in stall a valve were if she wants if them up befor going out.more weight might cause one or both legs to break....

hi guys, im from Australia and we get the style chanal on paied tv.. i have only just started watching the show and now have my sister adictted to it to lol.. i have just read the previous comments and im not sure if im happy or sad.. is the show fake?? i have been to some places over seas but never the US. since the show my sister and i really wanted to holiday there and we so want to go to the Gatsby.. please can someone tell me if its is real? and if it is and the girls do read this then this is what an ausie girl has to say.... guys you are great, the hair is a bit over the top for oz and the make up might be just a litttle crazy but you could get away with it maybe.. if you are gigi are olivia that is.. i love Gale and Krissy you guys are so much like an ausie family and gigi i love you to bits i just want you to come and meet my family and freinds.. What utter FILTHY TRASH this show is and the actor's are! This show gives women and especially NJ women a bad name. Does ANYONE have any morals! What a waste of money and time!

I continue to laugh on most of the comments here. You all think these girls work at the salon - guess again. They don't! Gayle employs 40 people and non of them are Olivia, Tracy, Anthony, etc. They are all actors - and obviously damn good ones. The show is filmed at nights and on Sunday's when the salon is closed. And no, Tracy and Olivia don't hate one another in real life. So the next time you watch, kick back and stop hating on these people you don't know. They are ACTING and laughing themselves silly all the way to the bank!!

A few months ago I was vacationing in the OuterBanks, NC which is a very friendly place to visit. I'm sitting in Aweful Arthur's (COOL BAR) chatting with the locals when they ask me where I was from. I said New Jersey. One guy says, "New Jersey is the ARMPIT of the United States." I couldn't understand why he would say that, but after watching this show, I GET IT. This show does not respresent me at all and I come from an urban city known for violence. Also, I know NO ONE that speaks like them.

They hired actors for the show....its a sham! well thats just an opinion that I have heard.

I do like the show, I will admit. However, I absolutely cannot stand Tracy's attitude any longer, or her appearance. Her hair is "holloweenish", it's a joke, and I read someone who said she should use her energy at the gym, rather than trying to be superior to everyone, as she is a large-sized woman. The show could be so much more enjoyable without this character. Really. Consider replacing her, the drama (whether real or imaged) that she creates with Olivia and others isn't adding to your show at all. Lastly, as someone else here (or on another blog) said, Frankie has been seen elsewhere. Paid actor perhaps? It makes you go "Hmmmm", is the show real?" For a minute, let's pretend it is and GiGi really is dating him. To GiGi.....he reminds me of the husband in "Sleeping with the Enemy". Run, run away as fast as you can. He's possessive and jealous, certainly not a fun life ahead for you is it?

ok one word for tracy! bitch! i mean olivia trys to make peace with her but all she does is nag so much about her coming into the salon every day and having to see olivia. olivia i think is an inteligant girl who can go far in the world but as for tracy idk! and tracys hair style has got to go! that hair style is not in i dont even know how she has lorenzo as a boyfriend. just saying she is not too inteligant.

I live in SoCal, but I'm orignally from NJ......Hudson & Bergen Counties. It bad enough people from other parts of the county think NJites are "rough around the edges".....and this show tries to confirm it. These "freaks" are not the typical NJites that I know.....thank God. This show truly sheds a bad light on the Eascoast. There is drama everywhere.....I do live in Orange County....drama central....but at least people have class here when they stab you in the back....LOL! Kidding aside and for the record....NJites are not ignorant, classless, uneducated and totally bitchy like this show depicts. Keep it real!

It's shows like this that give New Jersey a bad name. Any time I travel everyone asks where my "Jersey accent is ? " You don't have to be rich to have some class and speak correctly. I have plenty of Italian friends and not one of them speak the way the girls do. You don't need a college education to have proper grammar. And lastly I go to a salon to get good service and to be in a relaxing atmosphere not to have all that drama. I only thing the show will do you is harm.

I love this show! I am from Jersey myself and I have to say that Tracys hair do
has to go. Yeah I might admit about 10 years ago those hairstyles were in but this is 2010, Tracy get something new, that hairstyle is really bad. I loved the episode where they were given make unders not make overs! Both Olivia and Tracy were both really pretty when they redid there makeup and hair. They dont need all that make up and some of their outfits are really bad. I dont see how Gail hired them looking that way! I know some hairstylist dress funky but this is crazy! Please Olivia and Tracy tone it down and become friends!

i think its a great salon to go get your hair done and i LOOOOVVVVE THE TV SHOW. can't get enough of it. i like the drama and people except for that ball headed guy (LOL). he acts like a bitch. so not attractive.

this is awesome and instructional - purple is my favorite color and now that i tan on the reg my face matches my bedroom walls that i painted in 7th grade. i have never felt more fulfilled than when I watch this show.
My goal in life is to be a glamfairy!!!!! I am so close to achieving this goal so one day i hope to cross this off my bucket list.

I watch this show in the reruns because of the fighting. What I can't understand is that Christy and Gayle, who owns this salon, can't see who is the problem there. Tracy from day one has started these confrontations with Olivia and every time they point out the drama they make it seem like its both of them when its only TRACY! It pisses me off to watch this show when they both heard Tracy tell Olivia she wanted to talk to her outside, like that was her(Tracy) salon! How much more does this girl (Olivia) have to take before Christy and Gayle put her (Tracy) in her place permanently or even get rid of her?
