Rebecca Black gains critics for ‘Friday’ (VIDEO)

Even ‘American Idol’ judge Simon Cowell gives his opinion of the 13-year-old’s popular new song

Is it an honor to have a video that many are calling the worst song in the history of the world?

Singer Rebecca Black has single-handedly taken the Web back from Charlie Sheen by pushing 22 million (and counting) YouTube views for her debut video, "Friday."

Black has created the fastest-spreading Web sensation since Charlie Sheen's rants, with acoustic covers, banjo covers – even a faux Bob Dylan cover! – of the pop song hitting YouTube.

According to E Online, Black has now received advice such as "get an eating disorder" and "cut yourself and die" from her critics after releasing the song "Friday."

Those hurtful comments really shocked me,” Black said to The Daily Beast. “At times, it feels like I’m being cyberbullied.”

Black’s odyssey from suburban anonymity to punchline on a blog for the Comedy Central show Tosh.O to against-all-odds pop star began when she performed musical theater and sang as part of the patriotic ensemble Celebration USA.

CNN reports the song is the sort of lightweight bubblegum fluff that one might expect from an aspiring teen (barely) pop artist. It's simplistic, heavily auto-tuned, and features lyrics that can be called repetitive at best, asinine at worst.

The video features a rap break from a rapper who appears about 20 years older than everyone else in the video and drops borderline-creepy lines about getting "in the back seat" and wanting to scream when he sees a school bus drive by.

People.com reports the song is the product of Ark Music Factory, an L.A.-based vanity production company that matches aspiring teen singers with producers and songwriters.

According to Black’s page on Ark's website, Rebecca is a "fun, loving 13-year-old" in eighth grade who's proud of her lead role in her school's production of "Oklahoma!"

Another person who’s pretty good at making people angry is Simon Cowell. He told TV Guide, “Love it! I've never seen anything cause so much controversy. I think it's genius. The fact that everyone's getting upset about it is hysterical. The fact that it's making people so angry is brilliant."

Where she went wrong was singing a song that doesn't have bad words or talk about shooting cops or raping girls in it.
Keep up the sweet songs that teenage girls can play and dance and sing too. There is way too much crap in the music industry now.
I am a grandmother of 4 girls and I wouldn't mind any of them listening to this song. I think she made the song for young girls and I love it.

This girl is doing exactly what she should be doing...the video is harmless and childish and she is only 13. What's sad is that someone obviously pushed her to want to make this into "art"...L.A. will be the death of art.

If she is the one doing this on her own then it is the best joke in the history of mankind. When I first saw the video I couldn't stop laughing because I believed it HAD to be a joke. Then I thought about the fact that mothers who just want their children to be famous so they can make money off of them do exist and they make a mockery of art by using their children as pawns. It's sad but true. I'm not sure whether to be sad or laugh but either way the video IS hilarious. I just worry about the poor girl who is getting a lot of shit for being the star of a terrrrrrrrible song/video.

Music has already been destroyed by generic crap.

Bieber & rebecca are the worst thing to come from the music industry to date. The whole music industry is a sh*thole is you look at it. open your eyes. I havn't listened to any mainstream crap for ages now. *sigh* and this friday song makes my jaw drop and want to cry. Talent is gone.

This girl is just 13 years old. Yeah the song isn't good, but the random death threats and insults are ridiculous. I would just like to remind everyone that this girl is a human being who is barely a teenager. I don't know about you guys, but the thought of recieving thousands of insults at that age is nauseating.

I couldnt give a f**k if she is a victim of "cyber bullying", she should have though about that before she made it her mission to destroy music with her generic crap. Also, I don't understand how that token black rapper who features in the video can take himself remotely seriously. If he ever was considered a "bad-ass" before the video, surely he has lost all credibility. Screw Simon Cowell and his "as long as it sells, i'm happy" attitude to music.
