"Jackass" star, Ryan Dunn and a passenger were killed late Monday night in a one-car accident in rural Pennsylvania. Authorities have now identified the passenger as 31-year-old Zachary Hartwell, a former Navy Seal and newlywed.
According to police, the TV personality lost control of his Porsche 911 GT3 in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania causing it to flip over a guardrail where it struck a tree and burst into flames. Investigators say Dunn may have been driving at speeds of up to 130 mph just before the accident, MTV News reported.
Dunn, 34, reportedly tweeted a photo of himself and Hartwell drinking with friends hours before the horrific accident, but sources say the stunt man wasn't a big drinker. A friend, Thaddeus Kalinoski, told The Daily he partied with Dunn for five hours Monday night, but that Dunn did not appear to be too intoxicated to drive.
Toxicology reports were performed, but investigators won't know the results for at least six to eight weeks.
The Chester County Coroner's report stated both men died of blunt and thermal trauma due to a motor vehicle accident. The Coroner stated the force of the crash was so violent it was impossible to determine whether both men died from the initial impact of the crash or the fire. Dunn was identified by his tattoos and hair.Hartwell served three tours in Iraq, My9TV reported, and just married girlfriend Rachel in October. Friends and family do not believe Dunn, who they say was responsible when it came to drinking and driving, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Besides his appearances on "Jackass," the young daredevil starred in "Viva La Bam," and hosted shows "Home wrecker" and "Proving Ground." A member of the CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) Crew, Dunn played the main character in Bam Margera's 2003 film Haggard.
Margera slammed film critic, Roger Ebert after Ebert tweeted "friends don't let jackasses drink and drive." Ebert's Facebook page was temporarily shutdown for "violating terms of use," but was later reset.
