Sarah Palin Wants to Expand Her $16 Per Word Pay Rate

BY BOB HOLT

Now that she is no longer employed by Fox News, Sarah Palin wants to broaden her message of conservatism, and expand her voice in national politics.

And how far did the voice of the former Alaska governor go during her three years at the Fox network? Far enough to earn her about $16 for each word she said, according to one report. Palin earned $1 million per year for her commentary.

Smart Politics says Palin spoke 189,221 words in 150 appearances on Fox between 2010 and 2012, earning $15.85 for each word. Palin was interviewed on programs with Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren 55 times in the three years, and used about 75% of her words on those shows.

She dropped President Obama’s name 786 times during her Fox employment, and mentioned Ronald Reagan just 41 times. She used the word “Amen” 111 times, and said her familiar catch phrase “you betcha” just twice during her first month at the network.

Palin told Breitbart News that conservatism did not lose the 2012 Presidential election. “A moderate Republican candidate lost after he was perceived to alienate working class Reagan Democrat and Independent voters who didn’t turn out for him as much as they did for the McCain/Palin ticket in 2008,” Palin said. “We had an election defined by a biased media plus millions of voters who sat it out in disgust.”

She called her long-term plans “wide open,” saying, “I know the country needs more truth-telling in the media, and I’m willing to do that.”

According to Real Clear Politics, in 2010 FOX built a studio inside Palin’s Alaska home in 2010 when she signed with the network. But by this past August’s Republican convention, Palin posted on Facebook that Fox had “cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight.”

The 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate has more than political words to deliver to her fans. MSNBC reports that Palin is now writing a new book on fitness.
